At-Home Use

Pre-filled pen, no vein needed

Wash Your Hands

Use soap and water or hand sanitiser before handling the pen.

Check the Pen

• Confirm correct medication and dose
• Check the expiry date
• Ensure the liquid is clear and colourless — do not use if cloudy or frozen

Prep the Pen

• Remove the cap
• Mounjaro only: wipe the red inner seal with a swab
• Select a new needle and push the capped needle straight onto the pen, twist until tight
• Pull off the outer needle shield and keep it aside
• Pull off the inner needle shield and place in a bin

Prime the Pen (Mounjaro only)

Hold the pen with the needle pointing up and tap the cartridge holder gently to collect air bubbles at the top. Push the dose knob in until it stops, then slowly count to 5. The 0 icon must show in the dose window before proceeding.

Inject

• Turn the dose knob until it stops and the 1 shows in the dose window
• Choose your injection site and clean the area
• Place the pen flat against your skin at 90 degrees
• Press and hold the injection button — you will hear or feel a click
• No need to pinch the skin unless you are very lean
• Keep the pen pressed against the skin for around 10 seconds to ensure the full dose is delivered

Remove and Dispose

• Remove the pen straight out
• Carefully replace the outer needle shield
• Unscrew the capped needle and place in a sharps container
• Replace the lid on the pen

Let medication reach room temperature before injecting

Relax the muscle before injecting

Avoid injecting immediately after exercise

Rotate sites every week

Injecting into muscle rather than fatty tissue

Removing the pen too quickly after injecting

Not holding the pen in place for the full 10 seconds
